FAQs and Terms & Conditions
What type of event does the band usually play?
We play a variety of events including parties, formal and corporate events, restaurant sets, and concert performances. If you are unsure about whether or not your event is suitable for CST Jazz, send us a message via our Contact page, or email us at contact@cstjazz.com.
Does the band need electricity to perform?
Getting started is simple. Reach out through our contact form or schedule a call—we’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way.
How much space does the band need to perform?
The band can usually adapt to fit the space you already have but we ask that at a minimum, the venue/host provide a space that measures 13 × 15 feet (L x W). This minimum ensures that we have enough space to put on the best possible performance. If your event is being held in a building or space that you do not own or have control over, we ask that you secure this minimum requirement, along with our electricity needs, with the venue before our arrival. If you have any questions regarding space, email us at contact@cstjazz.com.
Does the band perform outside?
Yes! We love playing outdoors. However, some of our equipment requires electricity. We ask that the venue/host provide a safe and accessible means to an indoor or outdoor electrical supply in order to power our instruments. In the event that poor weather is reported for the day of the event, we will proceed as planned unless told otherwise by the venue/host. If poor weather is predicted and the event is not cancelled, we ask that a permanent or temporary outdoor structure be made available to us in the event that it rains, hails, etc.
How far in advance should I book the band?
We ask that, at a minimum, you send in your booking request 30 days prior to your event. We greatly appreciate booking requests 2-3 months in advance, but we understand that event planning can be a difficult process. Once your booking request has been sent in, we will do our best to respond to it within the next 7 business days.
Does the band play genres other than Jazz?
Yes, however we only do this in regards to a specific request. We typically play jazz standards ranging from early big band charts to bebop, cool jazz, bossa nova, and soul hits. Much of our performance music comes from The Real Book. If you have a specific request you would like us to play, please let us know in your initial booking request. If you have a non-jazz request you would like to hear, we would be happy to arrange it for our group! Please note: Arrangements of non-jazz tunes (pop, folk, country, rock, etc.) may require an additional fee. For more pricing information, email us at contact@cstjazz.com.
What does the term “Booking Request” mean?
Given that most of the band members are actively pursuing careers outside of the performing arts, we will do our best to add your event to our schedule, but we are not readily available for all dates. In order to avoid any confusion, the band must confirm that enough of its members will be available for your event before we can confirm or deny your booking of the band. Any booking request or email correspondence to the band will receive a response within 7 business days.
What does the band wear?
We can wear anything from a polo shirt and khakis to a suit and tie based on the event. If you have a specific formality of attire you want us to wear, just let us know!
What are the fees of the band?
Specific fees can be found on our Contact page. Payments can be made in either cash or check and can be presented on the day of the event or mailed. If you have any questions regarding our fees, email us at contact@cstjazz.com. Fees are negotiable!
What is the band’s cancellation policy?
If you cancel your booking of the band more than 20 days in advance, you will not be charged any fee. However, if you cancel your booking of the band later than the allotted time, you will be charged with the base pay according to the event that you selected in your booking request.
