Meet the Band -

Samuel Farrar

As a musician and multi-instrumentalist of over a decade, Samuel has performed a myriad of times. A polished pianist, clarinetist, and saxophonist, he has both participated in and organized concerts and community events. Samuel runs his own big band, and has experience in multiple jazz bands, in addition to a variety of wind and chamber ensembles. He is a student at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and continues to study music on the side.

Zachary Gay

Zach is a developed saxophonist of over nine years, who has played in an array of ensembles, including various saxophone choirs, wind ensembles, marching bands, and jazz groups. During his time at Taunton High School, Zach was Drum Major of the marching band, first chair alto in the Symphonic Band and Jazz Band, as well as the leader of both the saxophone section and Saxophone Choir. As a current engineering major at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Zach plays the Baritone Saxophone in the Jazz Orchestra and Alto Saxophone in the Wind Ensemble. He continues to further his jazz expertise in the Silver City Jazz Committee. He brings soul to Cohannet Street Jazz on his Tenor and Soprano Saxophones.

Benjamin Farrar

As a musician with over a decade of experience on guitar, saxophone, and bass guitar, Ben has played in a number of jazz bands, combos, and other ensembles. With experience as a musician and drum major at high school and collegiate levels, Ben has experience bringing music and energy to a diverse range of events. He is a graduate student at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and plans to continue his musical career beyond his studies.

Kyle Ducharme

Kyle Ducharme is an established composer and brass player specializing in the world of orchestral music, having his original pieces performed across New England. Despite his classical training, Kyle holds his own amongst the other jazz cats in both CST Jazz and the Silver City Jazz Committee, bringing both the mellow and big brass tang to the group. The only member of the group not attending UMass Dartmouth, he is studying music at Wheaton College (MA).

Jonathan Denis

Jonathan Denis is a versatile percussionist with over a decade of experience performing in a variety of ensembles. He began developing his jazz skills while performing with the jazz band at Taunton High School, where he began developing his sense of swing and improvisation. He later continued his work in big bands with the Jazz Orchestra at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Known for his adaptability behind the drum set, Jon brings a steady sense of groove and dynamic energy to Cohannet Street Jazz.
